Welcome

My new album is out , and is one of the best of 2024 according to BBC6music Freakzone – some great reviews too – Helium sourced slab of machine funk, progged out synth & pop hook

‘I really love that’ – Mark Radcliffe

‘It’s great music’ – Stuart Maconie

…. ‘sounds more retro-futuristic than practically anything else around right now.’ – Sweepingthenation

‘Progressive Synth, Keytar Boogie, Frazzled Funk and Chip-tuned out chongers. This is the future, rewired through the past and yet again Augustin has more than proved he can smash through the speakers into your lives. Odd in many respects, far-out freakery in others but amidst the computer crazy chaos there lies some maximum tune-age! Recommended’. – Jumbo Records

A funky voyage across synth-pop. But it’s never nostalgia, only Bousfield’s skill for fresh, catchy hooks and arrangements inspired by Ryuichi Sakamoto. –‘Norman Records’

In other news – The new Saint Etienne album, ‘The Night’ has been released to fantastic reviews. So proud to have co-produced and co-written on this ambient adventure!

Baildon Space Station – New single out 30th Oct 2024
NEW SINGLE OUT 20th SEPTEMBER 2024

Musician / Composer / Producer

Anyone whose musical output includes a ship’s wheel synthesiser, the theme tune to one of the 21st century’s most iconic gameshows, and the only UK Christmas number 1 flexidisc has probably got something interesting going on.

Augustin Bousfield is a relentlessly creative musician and producer from Bradford who turns his hand to all sorts of musical projects with an unending supply of tunes and nagging sonic quirks – from thrashing skronk duo Mucky Sailor to psychedelic pop outfit Gurgles, via supporting roles
with kosmische rockers NOPE and psychfolk guitarist Henry Parker.

More recently he co-wrote and produced Saint Etienne‘s last LP (“I’ve Been Trying To Tell You”) and hit that all-important Xmas #1 (well, for vinyl) with them in 2021. He performs keytared solo electro-poptunes that hit somewhere between Max Tundra, John Grant, Hall & Oates, and Syd Barrett. He has had a one off BBC6music show and been played on 6music numerous times as well as being featured on Radio 1 as DIY label of the week. He’s performed improv sound and noise, solo and with others at Bradford’s Threadfest, Fundada Festival in Halifax, Vespertine
Festival in York and the launch of the Doctor Who exhibition at the National Science and Media Museum with jazz pianist Matthew Bourne and baritone guitarist Andy Abbott.

Over the years he’s also performed with bands at Glastonbury, Womad, Brighton Beach Festival, Lizard festival and across Europe. He has written
theme and incidental music for lots of TV shows, and a number of films. He has also remixed bands including Deary, Dot Allison, Communicant, Printed Circuit, Cowtown and Lark

Recently Augustin has just completed his solo album, ‘Anymoor’ released November 2024, First single, ‘Who Turned The Lights Out’ is out September 20th with the next ‘Baildon Space Station’ out 30th October.
He’s working on new material for a forthcoming Saint Etienne album as well as remixing various bands. He’s just finished a new Gurgles LP and has been sound designing and providing music for Michael Spicers’s BBC R4 satirical show.

“Bradford Artdisco, West Yorkshire musical polymath, I love this” –

Stuart Maconie BBC6Music

“He has a knack for coming up with strong melodies and original song structures. Aside from being a very talented multi-instrumentalist and a great engineer, he is brimming with inspiring ideas and can play the Fender Rhodes beautifully”

Bob Stanley – Saint Etienne

“Layers and layers of beautiful sounds that waft and drift around you. Beautiful – musically and sonically!”

Local Sound Focus

“Gus came highly recommended to me, and, having now heard what he is capable of, I would wholeheartedly recommend him as composer of choice to others. He has a finely-tuned understanding of what’s needed, and an incredible capacity to tackle an array of styles. Gus is a real joy to work with”.

Sam Dunn (Head of Video Publishing, BFI)
